    Ash Deformation Temperature (Reducing)

The ash deformation temperature is an important property of ash melting behaviour. It is defined as the temperature at which the first signs of rounding of the edges of the ash test piece occurs due to melting.

This property is determined in a reducing atmosphere using a carbon monoxide/carbon dioxide gas mix or a hydrogen and carbon dioxide gas mix. This characteristic temperature can also be determined in an oxidising atmosphere, using air or carbon dioxide, using analysis package P41 - Ash Melting Behaviour (Oxidising Conditions).
